Culture medium | A complete minimal medium was used (Fong et al.2006) for the cell culture under defined conditions. Since singly labeled carbon substrate can well resolve the Entner-Doudoroff pathway and pentose phosphate pathway, [1-13C] D-glucose was used as the sole carbon source (Fischeret al. 2004). For anaerobic or micro-aerobic experiments, the cultures were incubated in sealed glass bottles with septum caps, and the headspace was filled with argon (anaerobic conditions) orair (micro-aerobic conditions, air liquid volume ratio 1:1). |
