Culture medium Cultures of wild-type M.extorquens AM1 were grown aerobically in liquid batch cultures using mineral salts medium containing 0.005 volume fraction (v/v) total methanol.
Carbon source Methanol.

Culture medium Cultures of the phaR mutant strain were grown aerobically in liquid batch cultures using mineral salts medium containing 0.005 volume fraction (v/v) total methanol. Kanamycin was added to 10ug/mL during preculturing, but not for the experiment itself.
Carbon source Methanol.
