Culture medium Pre-cultures were cultivated in the modified minimal medium XMD supplemented with 0.3% glucose.XMD medium contained per liter 1g of K2HPO4-3H2O, 1g of KH2PO4, 0.6g of KNO3, 0.25g of MgSO4-7H2O, 0.1g of CaCl2-2H2O, and 0.2mg of FeCl3. For the labeling experiment, Xcc cells were grown in XMD minimal medium with 0.3% [1-13C]glucose.
